What if I told you that you could catch a coma? No, not the pathological variety caused by disease or even injury but, rather, one that you deliberately sought out and physically caught as if it were lobbed over and you had your mitt out ready to scoop it from the air? Thinking about what a coma is, that deep prolonged unconsciousness, that state of unawareness and lack of functionality, is it possible to catch it? I believe, it is easier to catch than to avoid.
Everyday one spends in the company of naysayers, every moment one chooses not to learn something new, every second we waste on something that produces nothing of substance, is this not a form of comatose? The moment we trade passivity for engaging activities, we in essence catch a coma, we willfully choose a vegetative state and cast aside doing something for not doing anything at all.
Every time I drive by this street I reflect on the fact that one actually has the choice to take that road or not...
"Catchacoma" ~ Perhaps it should be 'The road less traveled'? :-)
