Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite Holiday. It's not the food or the football (both very cool BTW), it is probably because the world can't hijack it and commercialize it to the point of not meaning anything like they have with so many other Holidays..... Thanksgiving is all about being thankful for the things that truly, we cannot get on our own- we can't buy the love of our friends and family, our health and all the wonderful blessings that just happen- it is all stuff we have no control over. It makes us reflect on those things- even things that may not be good things but make us stronger and even more thankful (the death of a loved one (my Step aunt Clarise who went to her reward this past Friday after 91 incredible years), the cancer that spread and has left us with precious little time (my step uncle Tim), and the families without a home or food in the pantry......). Despite our lives and all the things we face daily, their is still so much to be truly grateful for. I saw this road sign on my travels this afternoon and I had to take a picture. This season is tough for so many folks here in Michigan but, truly, there is still so much to give thanks for.
Enjoy Thanksgiving; be grateful for those brave men and women who signed the Mayflower Compact and set in motion events that would rise up an magnificent Republic and be thankful for the hand of Providence that has blessed this Country ever since. Happy Thanksgiving.
Just love your signs! And I made the card about being yourself and sent it off to the cousins who are always encouraging me.
In so many ways I am so very blessed, but sometimes the shadows of sadness cloud my life. I will go and say goodbye to a truly beautiful friend tomorrow night, as she's losing her battle with brain cancer. But I know another day will dawn and my normal thankful self will eventually return. And I am proud to say I can trace part of my family to the Mayflower!
